Lyrics from one of my Favorite Songs
July 19, 2009Umi Says–by Mos Def
I dont wanna write this down, [world... premiere]
I wanna tell you how I feel right now [world... premiere]
I dont wanna take no time to write this down, [world... premiere]
I wanna tell you how I feel right now, hey [world... premiere]
Tomorrow may never come
For you or me
Life is not promised
Tomorrow may never show up
For you and me
This life is not promised
I aint no perfect man
Im trying to do, the best that I can,
With what it is I have
I aint no perfect man
Im trying to do, the best that I can,
With what it is I have
Put my heart and soul into this song [yes yes]
I hope you feel me
>from where I am, to wherever you are
I mean that sincerely
Tomorrow may never come
For and me
Life is not promised
Tomorrow may never appear
You better hold this very moment very close to you [right now]
Very close to you [right now]
So close to you, so- close to you [your moment in history is right now!]
Dont be affraid, to let it shine
My umi said shine your light on the world
Shine your light for the world to see
My abi said shine your light on the world
Shine your light for the world to see
[i want black people to be free, to be free, to be free]
My abi said shine your light on the world
[want black people to be free, to be free, to be free]
Shine your light for the world to see
[want black people to be free, to be free, to be free]
My umi said shine your light on the world
[want black people to be free, to be free, to be free]
Shine your light for the world to see
[want black people to be free, to be free...]
Sometimes I get discouraged
I look around and, things are so weak
People are so weak
Sometimes,
Sometimes I feel like crying
Sometimes my heart gets heavy
Sometimes I just want to leave and fly away [fly fly fly, like a dove]
Sometimes I dont know what to do with myself [ow!]
Passion takes over me
I feel like a man
Going insane
Losing my brain
Trying to maintain
Doing my thang
Hey hey hey hey hey
Put my heart and soul into this yall
I hope you feel me
Where I am, to wherever you are [ha ha ha ha]
Sometimes I dont want to be bothered
Sometimes I just want a quiet life, with
Me and my babies, me and my lady
Sometimes I dont want to get into no war
[black people to be free, to be free...]
Sometimes I dont wanna be a soldier
Sometimes I just wanna be a man, but
Umi said shine your light on the world
Shine your light for the world to see
My abi said shine your light on the world
Shine your light for the world to see
[i want black people to be free, to be free, to be free]
My dreamers(? ) said shine your light on the world
[want black people to be free, to be free, to be free]
Shine your light for the world to see
[want black people]
My elders said shine your light on the world [hey hey]
Shine your light for the world to see
I want black people to be free, to be free, to be free
All my people to be free, to be free, to be free
Oh black people to be free, to be free, to be free
Oh black people to be free, to be free, to be free
Thats all that matters to me (x7)
Black people unite and lets all get down
Gotta have what,
Gotta have that love
Peace and understanding
One god, one light
One man, one voice, one mic
Black people unite come on and do it right
Black people unite come on and do it right
Black people unite come on and get down
Gotta have what,
Love, peace and understanding
One god, one voice, one life
One man, gon shine my light
Black people unite, now hop up and do it right
Black people unite, now come on and do it right
Yeah baby thats what I like
Yeah baby thats what I like
Yeah baby thats what I like…
[black people, my people....]

He just chose not to hide the bad side.
Why have most of the positive leaders of the world died in violence?
March 13, 2009
This thought was inspired by my studies in philosophy and also by the late rapper Tupac Shakur who stated “It always happens, all the n*ggaz that change the world die, but they dont get to die like regular people, they die in violent ways.”
However, it is a question that deserves much thought. Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X, and Jesus Christ are all great names that are recognized worldwide. These great people are embedded in history because of their positive actions which allowed the world to move much closer to peace, love, and fairness amongst all. One thing they all have in common is that they all impacted the world in a positive way. Another thing they have in common is that they all died in a violent way. Why would someone want to murder a person who is doing something positive? This is the question i often ask myself. Throughout my years on this earth i’ve noticed that there is alot of hate and evil, some of it is transparent while some is hidden.
Keeping a person ignorant is the best way to control them. I happen to see examples of this theory practiced everyday. It extends much further than racism or slavery. Instead of being in control of a particular race, people are now able to control individuals of all kinds. Some parts of the media are deceptive, and we all know the power the media has these days. It has the power to embed thoughts into the minds of individuals, and they do not bother to research situations for themselves because of the trust they have in the media. If used in the wrong way it can be very dangerous and destructive. In order to gain power and control, some people conceal the truth about a situation from the public. If the truth about a certain situation is learned by the public, they will start taking action and eventually disrupt the power that a certain person or group has. With that said, most of the great leaders in world history committed themselves to rid the public of ignorance. This irritates those in power because it will disrupt their chances of keeping control. As a result, they decide to eliminate this interveening force.
These practices are evident throughout history, such as the case of Adolf Hitler where he practically brainwashed an entire nation into thinking all other races were inferior to their race. As long as the world is still existing there will be people who want absolute power and control. The best way to combat this is through knowledge and education. Actively seeking knowledge sparks the brain’s thinking ability and allows it to become much sharper.
Knowledge is the key to power and it is also the key to freedom. Take control of your life, dont believe absolutely everything you hear or see, and make it your mission to gain understanding on what is going on around you. The search for knowledge is an eternal journey because you can never gain enough. Just thought i’d share some of the wisdom i’ve learnt and what I am currently paying about $24,000 a year for at school. So empower yourselves with knowledge and you will succeed.
Network Marketing has prevented many from becoming victims of the recession.
March 8, 2009
The unemployment rate has recently become the highest one that the U.S has seen in 25 years. It rests at a terrifying 8.1%. In the month of February alone 651,000 jobs were lost, bringing the total amount of jobs lost for the last 4 months to 2.5 million. If these figures do not scare you then I would love to know what type of drugs you are taking to have such numb feelings. According to most economists, this is only the beginning of this life destroying situation. We have much more to endure in the future. Think about it, you may have your job now but who knows what the future may bring. I’ve always been an advocate of creating your own wealth, and in these times it is almost necessary to have a plan to do so. There are millions of americans and international citizens out there that are not stressed out by the recession simply because they have a way of creating their own wealth. Wouldnt you like to be one of those people? I know I would.
Now as we all know there are thousands of get rich quick schemes out there which try to lure you into making money with little work. Those will NOT work. Simply because you cannot receive alot of something if you put little or nothing into it. The key to achieving success is to work for it. It will not magically come to you. Network marketing provides the opportunity for average individuals to educate themselves, run their own business, create their own wealth and ultimately achieve the success that they have been looking for. It has given many people financial freedom, job security, time to spend with their family, and most importantly the ability to teach others the valuable information and keys to success that they have learned on their journey. The key to network marketing is giving. If you cannot give then you will surely fail in the business. It is all about building relationships with people that want to achieve certain goals and helping them achieve those goals. If your only intention is to promote or sell a certain product then you will never see the success that is available for you. Information and education are the most important things in this business. If you cannot give a prospect something thats more valuable than just a product then why should they buy from you when they can get that same product from virtually anywhere else?
First time network marketers often lose large amounts of time and money because they fail to build proper relationships with prospects and instead just try to shove the product or opportunity down their throats. Thats why it is important to get the proper education before you take on a venture such as this. Paying for a few lessons is beneficial because you will prevent yourself from losing even greater amounts of money in the future. Like i said before, information and education is very valuable in this business. And once you have become educated you will be valuable because you have information to pass on to others that are looking to succeed in certain business opportunities. You will be a leader that will attract prospects to you because of your knowledge instead of you having to go out and find prospects. From my studies of the network marketing industry, I have seen that many many people make good profits and many people constantly fail. The difference between those that succeeded and those that failed is the amount of education they have. Once the education is received they can apply it and instantly see revenue coming in. So regardless of what you may hear people say about online business opportunities, they are absolutely amazing. They have the power to drastically change people’s lives in a positive way but the problem is that most dont see this change because they do not take the time to get educated and receive proper information.
Another good thing I like about this industry is that the education does not cost an arm and a leg. The highest you may pay for a good quality education or mentoring program is $300. Compare that to the cost of most colleges today. Most people who attend college and work at normal jobs will not even see the amount of income that network marketers make, yet they paid almost 10x more for their education than what the network marketers paid! Just think about that for a second. Wow. But this truly is an amazing industry and provides good opportunities for anyone ambitious enough to conquer it. It is the best feeling in the world to be changing someone’s life in a positive way and this is what most network marketers do. The act of giving is always better than receiving, and when you give you will receive. So do not hesitate to go out there and try new ventures. Be sure to receive the proper information and training before you fork over too many dollars into programs, and you may see the success that you have always dreamed of.
Chris brown confirmed that celebrities are humans too.
March 6, 2009Everyone should have heard about the Chris Brown & Rihanna situation by now. If not then you need to lay off the porn websites and become aware of whats going on in the real world. First of all, i just want to say that this is the reason why i would not be happy if i were a celebrity. The world expects you to maintain a perfect image when indeed you are far from perfect. Nobody in this world is perfect so trying to keep a perfect “image” is very stressful. Okay now on to the main topic. The CB(Chris Brown) situation is a perfect example of the saying “what happens in the dark comes out in the light”. He should’ve really thought about how his actions would affect his career if this were to be brought out into the public. Rihanna may have pissed him off, but is it worth losing your career over? I wont attack him on his abusive nature because i understand that he witnessed domestic violence in his home at a young age. But i will question his intelligence and common sense. Did he think that a star like Rihanna could receive “horrific” injuries and just be ignored by the media? And thats if the situation did not go to the police. Unfortunately for him it did go to the police which makes it even worse.
I think celebrities today are so pressured to maintain a certain image and appear a certain way that it takes a toll on their souls and their emotions. Im sure if CB took the time to think before he acted this situation would have never occured. I guess he is so used to “acting” that he just lets his actions control him. This was truly a sad incident because it involves domestic violence, but it also shows that celebrities are humans just like us and it takes them off of this pedestal that they are put on. Im dissapointed to hear that Rihanna has decided to stay with CB even after taking a beating from him. What is this showing her young female fans who look up to her? They too may think its okay to stay with a man after he abuses you just because Rihanna did it. The conclusion i came to from evaluating this incident is that celebrities should not allow their ego to persuade them that they are not normal humans. They too have problems and should seek help in order to avoid incidents like this one.
Hip hop is being destroyed by capitalism!
March 6, 2009
Boy oh boy, how it truly saddens me to see the state that Hip hop music is in today. I remember the days when you could listen to a rap song and actually learn something useful. Life lessons were taught and true experiences were shared with millions around the world who listened to what an artist had to say. But now, hip hop has changed for the worst. Record companies dare not put out or even sign an artist if they do not have a “gimmick” that will make their record sell. Real artists who actually have true stories to tell are being ignored and thrown away like garbage. The radio and tv are flooded with hip hop songs that portay self-gratification, money, lust and disrespect for women, or outrageous dance moves that make people look stupid while doing it in the club.
I will not bash any artists in this blog but i will have to acknowledge them as examples of this. Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy are the main artists who lead this ugly transformation of hip hop. The blame should not be placed solely on them as other rappers contributed to this also, but their amount of fame from this type of music shows that they have no care for hip hop as a true art form. Even though we see these artists leading this disasterous genre of music, we must remember that the record companies deserve the full blame. They became greedy and implemented any stupid gimmick which would make rappers sell more records. They have destroyed the art form of hip hop all because they want more money. Tupac saved lives with his music because he described the struggle that most people go through. He presented the problem to the public through his music which made people aware of how destructive they were actually living. Now no artist may ever be able to reach an audience like Tupac did all because of the record companies being greedy. Instead of having music that may get people through tough situations, we now have music where rappers talk about how much money and wealth they have and how they throw it up in the club every night(which is absolutely false). They know that they dont waste their money like that so why are they telling us to do it! “It aint trickin’if ya got it”? Well sorry bruh i aint got it!
Artists like Jay-Z are known for their wealth but they actually talked about the hustle and struggle towards getting that wealth. Jay-Z describes his process and journey towards success which motivates millions of people and this may be the reason why he is one of the greatest rappers in hip hop history. Nas is a true lyricist that uses words to truly describe dark situations of life while shedding some light on these dark situations. He is known for spitting true knowledge and i have learned a whole lot just from listening to his music. These are the artists that allow you to come away with something valuable after listening to their music. When listening to the artists today you may actually lose some of the common sense you had before! I just wanted to express my feelings about this situation today and im sure there are others out there that feel the same way i do. I suggest that you make a blog, let it all out, and show the world that we all are tired of this crappy hip hop and want to see true artists exposed to the world!
Thanks for reading, and be sure to check out more of my posts.
Creating your own wealth in recession proof ways
March 6, 2009We all know that during this time the world is in absolute chaos financially. Jobs are being lost every single day which lead to less kids having the chance to stay in college and ultimately the breakdown of a family altogether. Yes these are some serious times. I feel that people in this day and age need to learn how to generate their own income rather than always depend on someone else for it. Like the old saying goes “You give a man a fish you feed him for a day, You teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” The internet is a goldmind for learning how to generate your own income, however not many people believe this is true. They see it as impossible and those are the people that usually end up getting left behind. The best way to succeed is to do the exact opposite of what everybody else is doing. Everybody works a regular traditional job, which is not bad but your mind must be open to test new ideas if you want to succeed. I am a college student that is constantly looking for ways to earn extra money. Unfortunately, i am taking 6 classes this semester so i do not have time to work on campus. I discovered a flexible business that can work for anybody. Its called affiliate marketing and is basically a job where you get paid to direct internet users to certain companies’ websites. Simple. I thought i would have to pay a big start up fee when i first stumbled upon this but to my surprise it was absolutely free. I even got $15 just for signing up. I really want to help as much people as i can during this time of recession so check it out if your interested, and if your not well then good luck on whatever you are pursuing at the moment.
